Darshan Hours

The shrine remains open through the day for darshan and private prayer, distinct from Mass timings. On First Fridays, expect large crowds from early morning. Please confirm current hours with the parish office when planning your journey.

Getting Here

How to Reach the Shrine

From Nilakkottai

The shrine is about 2 km north-east of Nilakkottai town. Auto-rickshaws and local buses are available from the Nilakkottai bus stand.

From Dindigul

Approximately 25 km via the Dindigul–Nilakkottai road. Regular buses run between Dindigul and Nilakkottai throughout the day.

From Madurai

Approximately 45 km via Sholavandan / Vadipatti or via Dindigul road. Frequent bus services connect Madurai to Nilakkottai.

By Train

The nearest major railheads are Dindigul Junction and Madurai Junction, both well connected across India. Continue by bus or taxi to Nilakkottai.

By Air

Madurai Airport (IXM) is the nearest, roughly 50 km away. Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) International Airport is about 115 km away via Dindigul, with wide Gulf and Southeast Asian connections.

From Chennai & Bengaluru

Chennai is roughly 445 km via Trichy and Dindigul (NH38/NH44); Bengaluru about 385 km via Salem and Dindigul (NH44). Overnight buses and trains to Dindigul or Madurai run daily.

From Kerala

From the Kochi side, about 250 km via Munnar, Theni and Batlagundu — a scenic ghat road. Buses from Kerala to Theni and Dindigul connect onward to Nilakkottai.

Bus pilgrimages are welcome. Please inform the parish office in advance so arrangements can be made, especially on Fridays.

Lodges and hotels are available at Nilakkottai, Dindigul and Madurai. For guidance on lodging near the shrine, contact the parish office.

Accessibility

The shrine campus is accessible for elderly and differently-abled pilgrims, with parking available for cars and buses. Wheelchair users are advised to come with an assistant.

Best Time to Visit

Weekday mornings are quietest. First Fridays are the most crowded — arrive early. The October feast and Holy Week draw large festival crowds.
